Criminal Lawyer Pennsylvania
When people in southeastern Pennsylvania face criminal charges, they look for a criminal defense lawyer with extensive trial experience and knowledge of the local courts. They come to the law office of Theodore Swan.
I am criminal defense lawyer Theodore H. Swan, Jr. I have been working in criminal courts in Bucks County and Montgomery County for more than 38 years, first as an assistant district attorney, and since 1977 as a criminal defense lawyer. Those years of experience, my understanding of how the prosecution handles a case, and my ability to analyze and develop a strong defense gives my client's confidence that they are getting quality legal representation.
Defense in Pennsylvania State Criminal Courts
I represent adults and juveniles against a wide range of criminal charges:
- Drunk driving : Driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol, driving after imbibing (DAI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), operating under the influence (OUI), or underage drinking and driving
- Traffic violations : Driving on a suspended license, driving on a revoked license, speeding, failing to stop, reckless driving, other traffic tickets
- Drug crimes : Drug manufacturing, possession and possession with intent to deliver, drug manufacturing, drug sale and trafficking charges
While these three are among the most common criminal charges, I also defend people charged with:
- Theft crimes : bad checks, credit card fraud, shoplifting, burglary, robbery, receiving stolen property, embezzlement, forgery
- Juvenile crimes : arson, underage drinking, damage to property, criminal mischief, car theft, fighting
- Assaults : domestic assault, assault with a deadly weapon, battery
- Internet and Computer Crimes: Identity theft, child pornography
- Sex Crimes: sexual assault, rape, molestation, child sexual abuse, indecent exposure, prostitution, indecent assault
Is This Your First Offense? You May be Eligible for a Second Chance.
If you are a first time offender, you may qualify for Pennsylvania's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program (probation without verdict) or a Sect 17 disposition for certain drug offenses . ARD is available to people who have committed certain non-violent crimes (particularly DUI or retail theft).
If you are accepted by the local District Attorney, you will be placed on probation. If you satisfactorily complete probation, (including fines or community service if that is required) and you do not get arrested again, the charges are dismissed automatically or can be dismissed with a petition. As your criminal defense lawyer, I will review this and other options with you.
When the Stakes are High, Experience DOES Matter.
