10 charged after 2-year, multi-agency drug trafficking probe

In Pennsylvania, authorities in the Centre County area wrapped up a two-year drug probe by charging 10 people of taking part in a heroin distribution ring. Drug trafficking and related charges were lodged against seven men aged 25 to 40 and three women who were 20 to 38 years old. The investigation conducted by the state attorney general's Office Bureau of Narcotics Investigation in concert with local police began in March 2012. The target of the probe was a large of amount of heroin the attorney general said was being run through the county.

Man accused of drug possession after undercover investigation

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Pennsylvania after allegedly delivering a product suspected of being methamphetamine to an undercover detective in Bethlehem on three occasions in November and December. Authorities have accused him of possessing marijuana, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance. In addition, he has been accused of possessing a backpack containing equipment used to produce meth that police found in September. Subsequent investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police allegedly revealed evidence that the backpack belonged to the defendant in this case, for which he has also been charged with operating a methamphetamine laboratory.

PA man sentenced to state prison for selling drugs

A man from Philadelphia has been sentenced to 2 1/2 to seven years in jail after he pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine. He agreed to a plea bargain, so several lesser charges, including possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, were dismissed. The events that led to his charges and conviction took place in June 2012 on Welsh Road in Hatfield Township.

Pennsylvania prison employee charged with felony drug possession

A 27-year-old prison employee arriving to work his shift on Nov. 10 was arrested and charged with three felony drug charges: possession with intent to deliver, possession of contraband and possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Prison officials declined to divulge the man's position at the prison. No bail has yet been set.

Pennsylvania mobile home involved in October drug raid burns down

A fire in Earl Township that began around 3 a.m. on Nov. 3 destroyed a mobile home that was targeted in a drug raid in October following a six-month investigation. As firefighters were arriving on the scene, the motor home caved in as a result of the fire, according to the Fire Chief of Earl Township. He further stated that additional fire companies from New Berlinville, Oley, Amity and Boyertown responded to the blaze and assisted in fighting it for several hours. The state police fire marshal is still investigating the fire.

Man charged with drug-related death

A Pennsylvania man will face criminal charges including manslaughter in connection with the apparent overdose death of another man. The incident occurred this past July when police were dispatched to a hotel wherein emergency personnel were attempting to revive an unconscious man lying in the hotel bed. The emergency personnel believed that the man was experiencing a drug overdose.

Drug trafficking charges target Pennsylvania business owner

In 2012, a man who owns pharmacies in Palmer Township and Hellertown became the subject of a federally led operation that sought to target online drug sales. On Oct. 16, the man entered a guilty plea to the charge of providing prescription drugs to patients who lacked valid prescriptions. One of the pharmacist's businesses was raided by a federal task force in November 2012, and the man and nine of his associates were subsequently indicted on seven separate charges.

Authorities found a 31-year-old man living in the shed; the man was taken into custody after police reportedly found various drugs and drug paraphernalia in the shed. Police also claim to have obtained a confession from the 31-year-old after finding the drug-related items.
