A 55-year-old employee of American Airlines was recently arrested after allegedly setting up a meeting to meet a child and her mother with the intention to engage in illegal sexual conduct. In the immediate aftermath of the sex crimes arrest, American Airlines noted that employees are held to the highest of ethical standards and face immediate termination when those standards are violated. Nevertheless, the man is fully entitled to his day in court and is presumed innocent in the eyes of the law unless and until government prosecutors can actually prove otherwise.
According to the Pennsylvania attorney general's office, the man attempted to arrange a meeting with a woman and her 10-year-old daughter. The meeting was reportedly arranged online, and it is alleged that he described his sexual intentions in detail. However, the man was unaware that he was communicating with law enforcement officers who were engaged in an undercover operation.
The man is now facing several charges, including unlawful contact with a minor and attempt to rape a child, among others. He was held on bail of $150,000. The office of the attorney general reported that an investigation continues to determine whether the accused man attempted to make any similar arrangements with other parties.
A Pennsylvania resident who is charged with sex crimes may benefit from the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney to ensure that his or her legal rights are protected. Having such a professional to investigate the background of the charges will be an advantage. A lawyer will scrutinize the nature of the communications between the accused man and the undercover officers, focusing on whether the man's legal rights were violated at any point during the investigation. Every person who is accused of a crime, even sex crimes, has a right to fair and impartial treatment during a criminal investigation and before the court. A lawyer will help to ensure the government is held to that standard.
